1. Who are you?

We are Combat Fusion Martial Arts we practice Ed Parker’s American Kenpo Karate, supported by the innovated training concepts of Russian Systema.  We provide membership to the International Kenpo Karate Association, Kenpo International, and Ward Kenpo Schools International, with all the advantages of belonging to internationally recognised families. We have a direct lineage to Senior Grand Master Parker through the IKKA Kenpo International and its Senior Instructors. We are dedicated to the memory of Senior Grand Master Parker, to the propagation, progression and enhancement of his teachings.

2. What is American Kenpo Karate?

The art of Kenpo Karate stems from ancient China, as do most martial arts in the world today. However American Kenpo was thrust from an ancient martial art into a martial art for the 21st century, both modern and progressive it tailors itself to the individual. This means American Kenpo will fit to your own personal ability, so anybody who has ever considered studying a martial art, especially women, children and the elderly, will find their own personal style of Kenpo Karate.

3. What is Systema?

Systema is a Russian fighting art developed by the Cossacks to defend their tribes from attack. The art was taken on by the Russian military, and developed further into a fully effective modern fighting system. Originally only taught to the secret services such as the KGB and GRU, as well as the special operation group known as Spetsnaz.

4. Are these martial arts easy to learn?

Yes, but students must be willing to work hard, and have a strong and positive attitude. Kenpo Karate is built around commonsense and logic. We use intuitive teaching techniques such as memory keys and analogies, to aid an accelerated learning process. Systema is constructed to make the student aware of themselves, as you cannot fight someone else if you still have to win the battles that go on inside you. This in turn leads the student to develop a type of knowledge that is self extracting, in essence they become a self teacher able to formulate answers to their own questions.

5. Is Combat Fusion right for children?

Yes, we encourage children to achieve a strong sense of independence and self confidence, to try new things and challenge themselves in new ways. Our children’s syllabus, although reduced in quantity and complexity, allows a smooth transition into the senior syllabus as a child grows in their art, without detracting from the core teaching. We also believe in instilling a sense of respect, respect for others, respect for their instructors, respect for fellow students and most importantly, respect for themselves.

6. What do I need to start training?

Your first lesson is free, so to begin with all you need is some lose clothing such as jogging bottoms and a T-shirt. When you decide to continue your studies with Combat Fusion, all the equipment you will need can be supplied through us. All equipment is top quality at very competitive prices.

9. Why learn self protection?

Learning to defend yourself is an investment. By becoming proficient in this martial art you will be investing in the protection of yourself and your family. Because both Kenpo Karate and Russian Systema are proven fighting systems, we focus our main training aim on preparation for a need to survive today’s increasing social dangers. This means dealing with all kinds of attacks both multiple and single, armed and unarmed. To this end Kenpo Karate and Systema are DYNAMIC, DEVASTATING, and DEADLY.
